Ages 12 to 16
Built for the season.
Athletic X-Training for twelve- to sixteen-year-olds who already play a sport. Hockey, soccer, lacrosse and dance athletes practise angle changes, hip-driven movement, balance and composure in a different setting.
What it is
The honest version.
- Martial arts movement alongside the sport they already play
- Start with the competitive calendar and the athlete's goal
- No sparring required to get the benefit
What it trains
A different training angle.
Striking footwork is angle change under pressure — another place to practise the first step used on an edge, breakaway or 50/50 ball. Punches and kicks teach rotation from the floor through the hips, a pattern that also appears across field, ice and dance sports. Single-leg stance work adds a balance challenge. Short rounds give the athlete repeated chances to pause, listen, adjust and try again.
- Footwork and angle changes under pressure
- Hip-driven movement from the floor up
- Balance and stance work
- Pause, listen, adjust and try again
- No sparring required to get the benefit
How a session is built
Two blocks, one session.
The first block is strike conditioning — pad work, footwork ladders and technical striking circuits. The second is athletic foundations: age-appropriate strength and mobility work led by our strength and conditioning coach. Athletes from four different sports train in the same room, each bringing a different movement background.
- Block one — pad work, footwork ladders, striking circuits
- Block two — strength and mobility work
- Led by the academy's strength and conditioning coach
- Hockey, soccer, lacrosse and dance athletes in one group
- Ages 12 to 16
Fitting the season
Around the club calendar.
Tell us the sport, the season and the goal. Bring the practice, game, tournament and recital calendar to a programme consult, and we will explain the available training block. The club sport remains the centre of the athlete's schedule; X-Training is an additional place to practise movement and composure.
- Tell us the sport, the season and the goal
- Start with practices, games, tournaments and recitals
- Review where an additional training block may fit
- Comfortable shorts and a t-shirt; gloves optional but recommended
