Ages 4 to 7
Their first forty minutes.
A first martial arts class for four- to seven-year-olds, run by coaches who have taught this age group for years. They learn to listen, take turns and control their own bodies — and they have a very good time doing it.
What it is
The honest version.
- Forty-minute classes, paced for a short attention span
- The same familiar coaches and the same routine every week
- Parents watch from the lobby gallery
What the class is
The structure.
Each session follows the same structure — a warm-up, one or two new skills to learn, followed by repetition presented as a game — because children this age settle into a routine before they settle into a skill. The martial arts are Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, scaled to their age and ability. What they are really learning, however, is how to listen, confidence, self control, cooperation and awareness.
- Forty-minute classes, paced for a short attention span
- The same structure each week, so they always know what comes next
- Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, scaled to four- to seven-year-olds
- Listening, taking turns and body control are the real curriculum
If they are shy
Nobody is put on the spot.
Plenty of four-year-olds spend their first class holding on to a parent, and we treat that as a normal start rather than a problem. No child is asked to demonstrate alone before they want to. There is no bench, nobody is picked last, and there is no ball skill to be embarrassed about. You watch the whole class from the lobby gallery, so you can see exactly how your child is settling.
- Parents watch the whole class from the lobby gallery
- No child is asked to demonstrate alone before they are ready
- Every child works at their own level from the first minute
- A quiet first class is normal, and it is never treated as a problem
The free trial
Free, and nothing is expected after.
Choosing where your four-year-old starts is a big decision, and a website can only tell you so much. The first class is free and it is an ordinary class — you will see how we teach, how we hold the room, and how your child responds to it, which is the only information that really matters. Comfortable shorts and a t-shirt is all they need. Nothing is put in front of you to sign on the day, and if it is not the right room for them we would genuinely rather you found the one that is.
- The first class is free, and it is a real class
- You watch the whole thing from the lobby gallery
- Comfortable shorts and a t-shirt; gloves optional but recommended
- Booking takes about a minute and confirms straight away
- Nothing is put in front of you to sign on day one
